PCB mask etching with the Engravinator?

Has anyone used their Engravinator to etch a mask onto a blank circuit board? I was thinking it might be possible to coat the board with paint, engrave the painted surface, and then etch with ferric chloride.

Before I start experimenting I wanted to ask the community if anyone else has tried this.

Thanks!

I did the engrave part as a test once, early on in development but never got around to etching the board. But as long as you get the focus right there will be plenty of fidelity to be able to make a working PCB. There’s plenty of details online about doing exactly this with diode engravers that should walk you through the software side of things.
But yes - totally possible.

If you do give it a try, please let us know how it goes!
