Wow… what were you trying to engrave?
Basically, UV lasers have the problem that they don’t burn things that reflect their light. Laser cutters use CO2 lasers because their IR light is absorbed by most things. So with white paper it doesn’t burn at first and then starts to char and is no black and absorbs ALL the power and then… fire.
